Carlos Romero, DO
Dr. Carlos Humberto Romero grew up in New York. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and minor in Theology from St. John’s University, Queens, NY. He worked with the New York Medical Society, in banking and as an emergency medical technician in the NYC area before receiving a 4-year scholarship from the U.S. Navy to attend medical school at Nova Southeastern University where he graduated in the top of his class. He did his Internship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center before being called up to serve as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy for naval fleets in Jacksonville and Mayport, FL. Dr. Romero completed his residency at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, FL. He works with the medically underserved community of Hendry County and is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University and Florida International University, School of Medicine. Dr. Romero likes to remind the medical students he teaches of his favorite rule in medicine, “First do no harm.”
Jennifer Romero, DO
Dr. Jennifer Anne Romero grew up in New Jersey. She worked as an emergency medical technician and respiratory therapist in South Jersey hospitals while attending Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art and Biology. She attended osteopathic medical school at Nova Southeastern University where she was the president of the student council. Dr. Romero did her internship and residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL and was named intern of the year. She published an article in the American Journal of Family Practice on Isoniazid Overdose. She has worked for many years with the medically underserved community of Hendry County and is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University and Florida International University, School of Medicine. Dr. Romero believes that medicine is a science but caring for people humanistically is an art.
We offer comprehensive medical care for both adults and pediatrics. Drs. Carlos and Jennifer Romero are highly qualified to diagnose and treat a wide variety of chronic conditions, including, but not limited to diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid disorders, depression, asthma, anemia, allergies. We gladly offer same day appointments for acute medical conditions, including but not limited to fever, cough/cold, bladder infection, stomach problems, rash, injuries and musculoskeletal problems.
We do annual physicals, sports physicals, school and work physicals, pap smears and pelvic exams. We also perform Electrocardiograms (EKG), pulmonary function testing (PFT) and hearing tests. Flu shots are available during flu season. Our office is equipped to do minor surgical procedures, if needed.
As primary care physicians, we do our best to keep you healthy! We focus on health maintenance and preventative medical care and will make sure that you are up to date with all the recommended health screening exams. We provide health education and nutrition advice.
We are able to draw your blood at our office and send to the lab facility as required by your insurance company. We can check blood sugars, urine samples, pregnancy tests, PT/INR for those patients on blood thinners, quick tests for strep throat infections and rapid diagnostic tests for the flu. We can give nebulizer treatments.
Both of our physicians are fluent in Spanish, as well as our entire staff.
